Thank you Detroit Maker Faire!

photo-31

It was an awesome weekend, with so many wonderful customers smiling and sharing their stories with me.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by my booth, to everyone who shared their memories, or told me where my bots are already occupying their homes and offices.  I cannot express how much joy it brings me to know that out there people look at something I created and smile every day.  Kudos once again to DIYpsi for organizing the craft tent, and the Henry Ford for putting on this amazing event for 5 years and counting.

I do not have any more shows scheduled at this time, but will keep you updated as the holiday season approaches and my show schedule is defined.  In the meantime, you can find my bots in Ann Arbor, MI at Found in Kerrytown Market and  826 Michigan, and in Rochester Hills, MI at Pine Creek Center for the Arts.  Commissioned work, special requests, or simply wishing to save yourself a trip, I’m always open to selling to you directly as well.  Find my work on etsy, or simply shoot me an email at  deets[at]bydeets.com  to let me know what you’re looking for.

If you liked what you saw under the DIYpsi tent this weekend, make sure to check out their upcoming show August 23-24 at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti.  While yours truly will not be vending that weekend, I may see some of you there in my volunteering capacity, and regardless, it is not to be missed!  Tons of amazing craft vendors, and food, and just awesomeness everywhere, all complimented with a Corner Brewery’s kick ass beer menu.

Cheers!

Yellow Door Art Market

In case you haven’t heard yet, Deets can now be found at the Yellow Door Art Market in Berkley, Michigan.  I set up shop on February 1st, and one month in, many many bots have already found new homes.  In addition to the bots I have had in the past, there are more large pieces and affordably priced original canvases and drawings as well.

This week I am the Yellow Door’s featured artist, and if you “like” the yellow door on facebook you can enter to win a one of a kind bot action figure by yours truly.  Check him out!

The market is gearing up for spring, and this Saturday, March 10th my work at the Yellow Door (along with most items in the shop) will be 15% off, and I will be there along with many other of the artists to chat and answer questions.  Store hours are 10-6.

Thank you 2011!!

2011 was a great year for Deets, and I want to sincerely thank all of my customers, family, and friends for your support, and thank you to the Rust Belt Market, Handmade Detroit, DIYpsi , Flint Handmade826Michigan, and Found as well for the opportunity to sell my wares and build this dream of mine.  This past weekend marked the final indie art show for my season, and what a season it was!

If you are still in need of a last minute present by Deets, don’t fret.  Simply send me an email,  deets[at]bydeets.com  with your request and I’ll do my best to make and ship in time for the holidays.  Alternatively, you can still find some bots, magnets, and ornaments at Found in A2s Kerrytown.

As a lifelong Michigander, my optimism for our future is higher than ever (despite our current “leadership”).  So many awesome people, and so much talent keeping Detroit alive…

Robot Art Fair at 826

The 52nd Ann Arbor Art Fairs are set to begin this Wednesday, July 20th and continue through Saturday, the 23rd. Now, if you weren’t already planning to come, you should change your mind after hearing this…  the Second Annual Robot Art Fair within Art Fair at 826 runs the whole time too!

By Deets’ bugs, bots, and octopi will be there for sale, with 20% of each purchase going to support this fantastic organization.  In addition to the local robot art offerings, there will be robot art projects for kids, and an industrial robot who is set to appear in Spiderman 4.  Can you think of a better way to escape the heat for just a bit?

Craft Faire 2

It’s with a very happy geeky heart that I’d like to announce that I’ll be a vendor at Craft Faire 2011, part of Maker Faire Detroit at the Henry Ford July 30/31st.  Last year’s event was beyond awesome, and I expect this year to be every bit as wonderful and more.

I will be there all weekend with my army of bots, octopi and bugs as well as some new work.  It’s only 44 days away, and that means there is lot of making in the near future…. *geeky squeal of delight*

Art in the Park

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Rust Belt Market this past weekend!  Up next, Art in the Park – an event to support the Ypsilanti Senior Community Center.

My new octopi and framed bots were a hit, and there will be more coming out of my studio for Saturday.  Rain or shine, come out to show your support and shop from fantastic local artisans!

Rust Belt Market

This past Sunday I had the privilege of setting up shop inside the Rust Belt Market in Ferndale for their grand opening weekend.  If the enthusiasm and talent at the first market is any indication, this place is going to make a big mark on the indie art/craft scene.

Opening weekend had a little bit of everything awesome.  Surprisingly comfortable gorgeous concrete furniture, amazing pop art portraits in lego, needlefelted coffee shop zombies,  upcycled accessories, and (my highlight in the middle of the afternoon) roos roast espresso cart. ahhhh.

I have reserved space at Rust Belt this coming weekend, May 14-15 and the first weekends of both June (4th/5th) and July (2nd/3rd).  Stop in, enjoy the music, and hang out for a while! Really, you won’t regret it.
